Yesterday my son (Ra) had to have surgery. He had his tonsils removed. Pretty routine procedure I’m guessing. Everything went well and the doctor even came out to tell us that he should be waking up and going to recovery pretty soon.
Then about 20 minutes later he came back and told us that Ra still didn’t wake up and start breathing on his own yet and not to get alarmed but if he doesn’t wake up soon they may have to transport him to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. Sounds daunting right? Johns Hopkins is only one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world.
He said that he was kind of concerned because usually, after the anesthesia wears off the person is supposed to start breathing but Ra wasn’t. So they had to keep him on a ventilator. What’s a father to do with that?
Well I’ll tell you what I did. I was praying inwardly as he was talking but then as soon as he stepped away my wife asked me to say a prayer with her. So I did. And that’s when God decided to show up. Now the doctor already said he didn’t have an answer as to why this happened. In fact he said he hadn’t experienced that in all the ones he’d done before. So as proficient a surgeon as he was he obviously wasn’t calling the shots.
But as we were praying my son was waking up from the procedure and doing all the things they thought he should have been doing. I kept watching the door and waiting for the doctor to come back through the door. And I guess about 5 or maybe 10 minutes had passed & he came to tell us that Ra was up & we could go see him.
Say what you will. But since this is the 2nd or 3rd time that the doctors have told me they don’t know. Its the 2nd or 3rd time that my son was unconscious and unable to breathe on his own. Its the 2nd or 3rd time I prayed for the situation to be reversed and my boy wake up immediately.
Allahu Akbar ~ God is greater than all of these. All praise is due to the Most High One.
