How does he handle it all?

Not only is he a full time 9 to 5 employee, father of two energetic preschoolers and husband to a very demanding but sweet wife.  He is also trying to build a profitable online business and make sure that all the important areas of his life receive their fair share of attention.  You’d never know what problems he has, how he struggles with staying organized & focused and what drama is going on in his personal life.

So how does this nameless marketer make everyone think he has his act together?

He wears the mask.  That same mask that we all wear as we try to “become an expert in our niche”.  He get into social networking and try to approach Relationship Building like a sales technique.  He keeps people at arms distance as if everyone is a threat on some level.  He makes it seem like the number of friends on Twitter or Facebook really means he’s a people person and has good interpersonal skills. All wrong.

But in reality what you think about him is just the facade that he holds up for the world to see.  He thinks its his brand that he is making people familiar with.  But there is a distinct difference between the person and the brand.

Your Brand represents a system of doing business.  One that can stand on its own with or without people seeing you.  While you are what people have to grow to know & trust so that they will embrace the brand you recommend.

It takes time for people to embrace your Brand but if what you see is what you get then they will embrace you very quickly.

Without being authentic people will start to see you more & more as phony.  Its hard to win people’s trust or really connect with their needs when you’re focused on using tactics to get something from them.  You certainly won’t have much success without creating relationships with people what you have to offer is what they want to come get from you.

Whether you’re after sales, learning, partnerships or more referrals make time to share your real self with people you’re connecting with so they’ll be more likely to come give you what you’d like them to.
