I like to watch shows on public television that are empowering. Similar to the type of blogs and articles I like to read online. I’ve seen and heard some pretty smart men talk to mixed audiences of men & women, young & old and different ethnicities in ways where everyone comes away with something of value.

I’ve seen some pretty smart women as well sharing extremely valuable insight with somewhat diverse audiences. Insights about life, finances, relationships or what have you. And the vast majority of attendees or viewers will testify that it was a great experience that they’d recommend to anyone. Nothing wrong with either one.

I always notice that there are so few black men in these audiences.

Then another interesting dynamic that makes me stop and think is the show and blog or site that I run across that are geared to ward empowering women. Now as I said before nothing wrong with that. I love seeing women learn how to overcome challenges, Be Extraordinary and achieve great things.

Heck! I’m participating in my 2nd 30 day blog challenge started by women, where the majority of participants are women and where there are a lot of great blogs geared towards empowering women. Out of 240 or so participants I only know 7 men and only 3 of us are black.

I wonder how interested and diverse an audience I could get if I held an event or started a fun and challenging contest geared towards empowering black men. I’m excited.
