<p>I am an avid music fan.  I also love a great story.  (Ok I&#8217;ll confess I like to listen to movie soundtracks)  Like many people who complain about the music scene today I am more than a bit disappointed with the &#8220;Stars and Celebrities&#8221; who are polluting the airways with mind rot and calling it entertainment.</p>
<p>I was all set to be grumpy and crotchety today until I started &#8220;Tippin On The Tightrope&#8221; with this breath of fresh air called Janelle Monae.</p>
<p><object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" width="480" height="260" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="never" /><param name="src" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pwnefUaKCbc&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x2b405b&amp;color2=0x6b8ab6&amp;border=1" /><param name="allowfullscreen" value="false" /><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="260" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pwnefUaKCbc&amp;hl=en_US&amp;fs=1&amp;rel=0&amp;color1=0x2b405b&amp;color2=0x6b8ab6&amp;border=1" allowscriptaccess="never" allowfullscreen="false"></embed></object><span id="more-473"></span></p>
<p>Its been a while since I&#8217;ve heard a song that made me just get up and dance with my children whenever I hear it but Ms. Monae hit the right note with this one. I liked it enough to go on over to Amazon &amp; checkout the whole album. I was presently surprised.</p>
<p><iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&#038;bc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;fc1=000000&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;t=thhirosh-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;m=amazon&#038;f=ifr&#038;md=10FE9736YVPPT7A0FBG2&#038;asins=B003L0V758" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0"></iframe></p>
<p><iframe src="http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?lt1=_blank&#038;bc1=000000&#038;IS2=1&#038;bg1=FFFFFF&#038;fc1=000000&#038;lc1=0000FF&#038;t=thhirosh-20&#038;o=1&#038;p=8&#038;l=as1&#038;m=amazon&#038;f=ifr&#038;md=10FE9736YVPPT7A0FBG2&#038;asins=B001DQF5KA" style="width:120px;height:240px;" scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" frameborder="0"></iframe></p>
<p><strong>Disclosure: These are my affiliate links. I&#8217;ll make a buck or 2 if you make a purchase. <img src='http://highroadism.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /> </strong></p>
<p>There is a theme and a plot to the whole album trilogy. Very much worth checking out. But the part that really made this one that I was willing to spend money on was the fact that there is none of the misogyny, materialism, profanity or ignorance that I am working hard to shield my children from. Good clean meaningful lyrics and even where there is social commentary it doesn&#8217;t glorify all the things that we don&#8217;t want in our neighborhoods.</p>
<p>Every song has lyrics and a message that mean something you want more of in your life. Janelle Monae is the new Queen of The Hill in my opinion. What she is talking about with this release is HighRoadism.</p>
