Avatar – Accept Responsibility

One Of The Original People

One Of The Na'vi People

I finally got to go see the movie of the decade this weekend.  Avatar, which is the most expensive movie ever made to date, was well worth the price of admission.  Even with the $6 3D glasses.

This movie embodies almost every personal belief I have about the goodness of humanity, the power of our authentic relationships with one another and our intimate connection to our planet.

Much like what has gone on in the modern history of our civilized world, wars are being waged and people are being exploited so that a few greedy people can control the resources.   Now whether the movie left you feeling depressed as CNN reported it has or if you left inspired and excited like I did one thing is certain.  We’ve got to start taking better care of ourselves, each other and this world of ours than we have.

I left feeling a heightened level of self respect realizing that I’m a valuable member of my community.  I also left looking at other people differently.  No longer seeing reasons to be divided but going beyond superficial differences to call out the will to help & serve one another.  And I also realized that each of us has to step up and take responsibility for what’s happening in our neighborhoods our nation and on our planet.

There was a unique language that the indigenous people spoke and the greeting was so beautiful.  They look each other and every living thing and say “I See You“.   That was especially significant in light of what is going on in Haiti, Venezuela, Argentina, New Orleans……

If you haven’t seen it yet.  Do your self a favor check it out.
